Love this place! Such a charming atmosphere inside and out.
Went for a pint here on a weekend and hung out with some locals.
The bar keep was a very friendly Scottish lady who made you feel at home!
The beer was cold and reasonably priced.
It's Folkstones oldest pub dating back to the 1400's.
Charles Dickens was said to have penned some of his novels here -

What a lovely pub to drink and eat in. If you are looking for an original old style pub then this is for you. As well as popular beers it also offers some traditional ales as well.
It is set back from the hustle and bustle of the main shopping precinct but that just adds to the charm. You can guarantee getting a warm welcome here and the food is fantastic.
They do not scrip on the amount on the plate and on more than one occasion i have had to leave some of the meal as there was just too much to eat.
This is the sort of pub you would to while a lazy sunday afternoon in. -

The British lion is such a pretty looking pub from the outside situated on the top of the Bayle away from the noise of the town. The pub is cosy and it serves excellent Real Ale and has been a CAMRA guide favourite for some years. The food is traditional - and the portions HUGE - we had ham egg and chips with a lovely salad for about £6 and both of us could not finish it. Usually 3-4 beers on tap. It is a traditional pub that has managed to keep going despite all the challenges in the market at the moment. Great place to take mum and dad for a sunday lunch in a safe, clean environment

A little gem of a public house, nestled away in the Bayle area of Folkestone.
Some of the best cooked, best priced home cooked meals I have ever had and all at a reasonable price.
If you are into your real ales, there is always a selection to choose from that do change! -

This is a gem of a pub. It's one of my 'locals' and I always enjoy my evenings here.
Nick and Dee, the landlords, are a lovely couple who always make everyone feel welcome. They also put on regular quiz nights and other themed parties, for Halloween etc.
The pub has a cosy feel to it and there is never any trouble (most of the clientele are 40+)
They serve very good food, which I feel is reasonably priced. The portions are large and the yorkshire puddings with Sunday Roasts are huge!
They also serve several real ales - not something that interests me, but I know that's important to others.
The only downside is it could do with a heated smoking area.
